Petition to remove Starcade from the TTTO due to differing agendas.

18 Feb

Firstly, I’m behind on posting here at RdmRules due to a close friend of mine leaving FFXI. l’ll get back on track eventually.

The real point of this post came from Starcades response to lolPUP and Beyond’s post on Blogging. Read them if you wish and come to your own conclusions :)

While I do not think Starcades blog should end, he has the right to freedom of speech, I believe the The TaruTaru Times Online is not the place for it. The reason The TaruTaru Times Online exists can be seen plain as day in the sites header:

ttto

Bringing together, the Final Fantasy XI blogging community’. While some may take this as ‘Bringing together blog posts from the FFXI community’ I have always taken the ‘Bringing together’ in a more spiritual sense; uniting us all, making us all closer as a community.

Two statements from Starcades last blog post show he is not working towards what the TTTO stands for:

‘I want the general public to view the FFXI fan community in an extremely negative light.’

I don’t want to be part of your “community”

Starcade is not working on bringing our community together – he is trying to splinter it. Starcade willingly states he doesn’t want to be a part of  our community. So again, while I believe in Starcade being able to post his views his blog, I feel the TTTOs agenda and Starcades agendas are at odds. Because of this I ask that either Starcade unlinks his blog from TTTO or that it be removed by the community owner.

  5. Starcade February 19, 2009 at 5:08 am #

If they want to remove me, they will.

Frankly, it might have to get that you guys have me barred from FFXI entirely is that fails.

Sounds like someone with sand in their…
    …you get the picture.

Seems like he should be removed from the ‘Community’ as he’s clearly against being part of it.

and as for everyone cheating in ff…
    well, he’s probably right.
and it’s not like Rapture is going to change that.

Starcade: I don’t have any gripe with what you’re saying over on your blog. I just do not understand why you wont unlink it from the TTTO yourself :/ if you don’t want to be part of this community you should leave and be true to what you write. As I’ve said before, everyone has the right to express their own views but theres polite ways to do it – it should be in the appropriate place. Which is why I’ve never commented on you blog to argue, it’s your domain and you may say as you please. However stating you don’t want to be part of the FFXI community then linking blog posts to a community site is somewhat hypocritical.

Ringthree: heehee ;P Yeah I didn’t want to draw more attention to the situation and get involved in an argument. I’ve refrained from commenting on Starcades blog or making a post till this point because of that reason. However seeing Starcade willingly state he doesn’t want to be part of our community made me wonder why his blog is linked to the TTTO. (P.S, I read your blog, its great XD)

To everyone else: Thanks for the comments and input :)

I can understand that, Millionsknives, except for one thing:

I want the visibility to expose this player base as the steaming pile of turds it is. It is no secret to me that this game is unsustainable with present attitudes, with Square-Enix all but admitting as such in their latest financials.

I refuse to unlink it, except forcibly, for the same reason I don’t leave FFXI outright: I firmly believe that if I leave, the remaining players will be emboldened to continue to spit in the face of SE (since they already believe SE spits in their faces), turning the game into such garbage that both it and Rapture fail.

I don’t want to leave, except by being banned from FFXI (for “conduct unbecoming the game”) or worse. I’m willing to fight for my position, because I see this game as a mirror of what a lot of these “people” (I consider many of them the level of dogs.) do in real life.

What one notices is that the conduct of the players actually mirrors what they do in real life. Why would anyone believe that hard work is worth anything if it’s clear that, to get ahead, one needs two claim-bots, Windower with all the dressing, and access to every illegally-exploited game mechanic discovered?

Well, I don’t wanna turn this blog into a battlefield so if you don’t wanna approve it (assuming this is moderated), I’ll leave that up to you.

I will point this out about our little Starcade friend who apparently is 40 years old and plays a Galka and left a server because of some Besieged stuff or something like that:

The guy can’t make an argument unless FFXI is involved. The guy can’t talk about anything unless FFXI is involved. If FFXI wasn’t involved, he would really just sound like an angry guy that is against the world, not that he doesn’t already sound like it as is.

    I basically draw this:

    1. A huge majority of the hits to his blog are usually people getting their kick of entertainment and laughter. He is doing a good job of this and I can’t really say that’s bad for the community. You gotta have at least one guy who is willing to put himself in that “spot” where you have something so serious to him end up being so entertaining to others.

    2. Again, without FFXI, he can’t make a blog post without sounding like he’s just completely angry at the world. If you guys recall my blogpost where I called him out, I really didn’t refer to FFXI all that much. I targeted him for being a complete douchebag for talking shit about not just those that got banned but also those that simply said “some people took it a bit too far.” But he just constantly replied with everything that has to refer back to FFXI. Like I said, he can’t say anything. He might as well just say “I’m right, the world should represent what I want it to be” but he doesn’t, he just says that behind the wall of FFXI.

    3. Most likely if he reads this, he’ll be picking out words. And most likely, he will be reading this and challenging it and doing it anyways. It’s like he has nothing to do. That time could be used to improve his character in FFXI, but no, he has to go find more flame bait. Omnomnomnomnom~

    4. He tends to use the legal system or at least mentions it quite a bit and wants to use it to the fullest extent. I really don’t know much about how they handle things in America in regards to that. Personally, it just seems like some sort of threat that could be considered harassment and… well if he is using that as a threat, couldn’t someone counter-threat back and end up in some huge circle of random lawsuits and stuff? I dunno D: I’ve been drinking too much Pepsi to make sense of all that.

    5. There’s a lot of insignificant people in the world. I’m one of them. You can really just go through life without me interrupting you. I suggest you all treat Starcade the same way if you don’t really enjoy his musings. All I really know is that I’m probably about a 100 mile radius away from the guy and if he ever got my address, he’d probably go and stab me to death as a way of self justice. If that’s the case, I’d hope that someone here makes some memorial post about me or something. D:

Again, if you find something worthwhile in his blog posts, be it that you agree with him or using it as laughter fodder, it’s all good. He’ll keep doing what he’s doing (bitching about how the world… erm, I’m sorry, “FFXI” isn’t a Utopia) and that will be that. I just find it funny that I ridiculed him quite a bit and he just seems to keep swinging at my FFXI persona. Is it because he’s more mature than me? Nah, maturity has nothing to do with the internet really and trying to show it (or even disguise it) is really just a wasted effort. I’m actually kinda waiting until he sends me hate mail that I’m a fagnut because I don’t think “Starcade” really exists in the world, he just exists in FFXI. There’s no human being behind that Galka persona really. Maybe a bitter old man being bitter about the world he cannot change… definitely a rebel with a cause… a cause that only satisfies his inner desires of whatever honor, glory or what not that exists in his pride.

*hiccup* This is some good Pepsi D:

LOL. Child when you grow up you will may learn that people have these things called opinions, and when they don’t match up with yours it is not necessarily a bad thing and it is definitely something you probably can’t change.

You aren’t “teaching” anyone anything they don’t already know. You think you are far more important than you really are.

I don’t care at all if you are linked, unlinked, because in the end you are just an anti-fanboi, with the mentality of a three year old.

I would just pat you on the head and have you sit at the kids table for holidays.

“I refuse to unlink it, except forcibly, for the same reason I don’t leave FFXI outright: I firmly believe that if I leave, the remaining players will be emboldened to continue to spit in the face of SE”

This sentence alone proves just how out of touch with reality you are, you have no impact whatsoever on how people play the game and you never will.

Grow up and get over yourself.
